The Government of Canada’s approach in the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative is based on concrete actions and real partnerships with provincial governments and the private sector.
Collaborative partnership is a cornerstone of the APGCI's integrative approach. In May 2007, Lawrence Cannon (Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities) and David Emerson (Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Pacific Gateway and the Vancouver-Whistler Olympics) signed the Canada-BC Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Gateway cooperation with Premier Gordon Campbell and Kevin Falcon (BC Minister of Transportation). This bilateral MoU outlines priority action items for Canada, BC and for joint efforts, including key policy and regulatory issues that would impact on the success of the APGCI.
